Background of B.Ed. Level
The study of B.Ed. was started to improve teaching learning activities in Nepal. In the past, it was of two years full time course and also followed by one year BED course for those who had completed Bachelor or Masters Level.
At present education there is globalization of higher education. Furthermore, to meet the global trends, B.Ed. programme was changed into three years’ system in 1996. In recent years, the role of teachers has been of great importance and the system has to follow modern global trends. Due to this reason, B.Ed. programme has been applied of 4 years system to make homogenization with global trends. This system meets the need of equivalence of the countries like Australia, Canada, and USA etc. So, if Nepalese students have taken this four year programme of B.Ed. Level, they do not have to face problems of equivalence with the systems of western countries. Moreover, this course is in the demand of globalized higher education. In addition, in many countries, recruitment in teaching is not possible without having B.Ed. degree. So, students do not have to hesitate to get admission in this 4 years B.Ed. programme because it is directly linked to further career in job market.

Quality of Education
JMC has maintained high quality of education since its establishment in 2047. The products of JMC have got placement in different fields in Nepal as well as abroad. Nepalese government has also acknowledged the educational quality of JMC. Because of its efforts made for quality education, UGC, Nepal has provided the certificate of Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) to JMC, in the year 2020/ 2076. Now, this college has stood and got credit as being the first college to obtain QAA certificate in Kathmandu.
Campus Environment
JMC has got own land and own building so that there is no fear of migration from the present building. The campus building is well furnished having spacious classrooms and properly designed set of furniture. This campus has managed internet and adjusted multimedia power point in classrooms so that students get easy way to learn with evidence- based teaching process. Furthermore, students do not have to feel any kind of boredom which they get in traditional model of teaching style in classrooms. In JMC, students find theoretical aspects merged with practical process. Students find hot water system for drinking water in every flat. There is library management with well-furnished reading room. JMC has managed very neat clean canteen where tea and snacks are provided in highly hygienic environment. Moreover, in JMC, rooms and campus yard are swept and cleaned regularly. Furthermore JMC has managed neat clean bathrooms which are separate for boys and girls in every flat and there is continuous flow of water. As a whole, JMC has managed well environment in favour of its stakeholders.
Teaching Faculties
JMC has made management of highly qualified and experienced teaching faculties so that students find a kind of real difference here than in other educational institutions. The teaching faculties are labourious and highly supportive for students. At present JMC has focused on managing research – oriented teaching staff having higher qualifications such as M.Phil & PhD. In JMC, students find teaching system merged with research due to highly qualified teaching staff.
Management and Office Staff
In JMC, it will not be exaggeration to say that students find very friendly management team. The participants of management team are ready to solve students’ problems at any time. Students find homely environment with management team and office staff. So, students are advised to come and know the reality in JMC, Kuleshwar, Kathmandu.
Course Structure in B.Ed. Level
Faculty of Education (FoE), TU, is going to introduce four-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme with two specialization subject areas (specialization major and specialization minor subject) in 2072 BS instead of offering single specialization area like in three-year B.Ed. There are core subjects, major subjects and minor subjects to select and study in BEd level.
Accordingly, students of four-year BEd. programme will have to study one subject area as specialization major and the next as specialization minor area selecting from among Nepali Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, Health and Physical Education and Population Education. Students may also study one of the courses from among Health Education, Physical Education, vocational education, Primary Education, Early Childhood Development Education, Non-formal Education and Education Management as specialization minor.
Four-year B.Ed. with annual examination system is a professional as well as academic programme designed for preparing competent teachers who can teach two subjects at secondary level.
Eligibility
The students who have completed 10+2 or equivalent examinations securing minimum ‘C+’ grade in all subjects of Grade 11 and 12 are eligible to enroll in B.Ed program of Tribhuvan University.
Or,
Students with Higher Secondary Education Examination Pass Certificate (HSEEPC, hereafter only NEB) or Proficiency Certificate Level of Tribhuvan University (PCL) or equivalent to NEB/grade 12 pass are eligible for the admission in B.Ed programme. In addition, they need other requirements for the admission in different major subject specialization areas which are as follows:
Nepali Education
- NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL with Nepali major with at least 200 marks
English Education
- NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL with English or Linguistics major
- NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL with 50% marks in General English Or
- Candidates with NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL must secure 50% marks in the Entrance Examination conducted by the respective department of the campuses
Mathematics Education
- NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL with Mathematics Major containing at least 200 marks
Science Education
- NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects with at least 100 full marks in each subject
Health and Physical Education
- NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL with Health & Physical Education or
- NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL with Science or Population or Home Science or Nursing and any other subjects.
- NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL without health and physical education background must pass the physical fitness related entrance test conducted by the respective department of the campuses.
- The candidate without physical disability will be eligible to study health and physical education.
Population Education
- NEB / Grade 12 pass or PCL with Population Studies or Geography or Economics or Health and Physical Education or Community Health or Science or Mathematics or Home Science or Civics or Social Service or Nursing or Commerce.
Eligibility for selecting minor subject
Except science education minor (Biology), minor subject areas are opened for all students irrespective of their previous study areas in Grade 11 and 12 or PCL. Only those students who are majoring physical science can select biology minor. Students are required to select minor subject areas that should be different from their major subject areas.
Curricular structure
Each student must pass 22 courses to have certificate of Four-Year B.Ed.. These courses are divided into four major groups ˗ group ‘A’ with Communication Skills; group ‘B’ with Professional Cores Areas; group ‘C’ with Specialization Major Courses and group ‘D’ with Specialization Minor Courses. Group ‘E’ includes Teaching Practice/Practicum.
